KK Proffitt

The chief engineer, musical editor and creative talent of JamSync is KK Proffitt. She has earned several degrees and honors in undergraduate and graduate school including a BA from Vanderbilt, completed coursework for the Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology at the University of Tennessee (where she was inducted into the honors society Phi Kappa Phi), Guitar Performance Studies and Arranging at Berklee, and a graduate degree in Software Engineering from Northeastern's State of the Art Engineering School. KK is an active member of the Audio Engineering Society and holds the position of Committee Member.

KK does all the mixing and mastering at JamSync — from classical to rap! She has assembled a complex ProTools HD Accel  and ProTools|24 MIXplus system with expansion chassis and extra DSP cards, as well as a Steinberg Nuendo 2.0 system so she can do all her work in fully automated, 5.1 channel digital environments. 

Complex music editing is another of KK's fortés. What do you do when you get the stereo film version of the soundtrack which has a credit roll one minute shorter than  the 5.1 audio DVD release?  Not only can KK create a new 5.1 version from the stereo master, but she can precisely edit the sound track to extend it to the necessary time

Many manufacturers rely on her skills to do high-level alpha and beta testing of their products before the rest of the world ever gets to see them. A few of the companies she has worked with are:  Avid/Digidesign, Dolby, Drawmer, Lexicon, Steinberg, Universal Audio, and Waves. This gives her a technological advantage because, by the time a product is released, KK has been using it for months.

An internationally recognized expert in recording and computers, she has been published and quoted in all the major professional audio magazines from MIX to Surround Professional to Audio Media to Post to Pro Sound News to Electronic Musician. KK can be regularly found on the web as a contributor in all the major professional audio news groups.

She is a talented producer, electric guitar player and writer as well as an engineer. KK has produced several records on independent labels Pica, Varulven and Album Network. In addition to working with other artists, she has written and recorded six solo albums.
